Honesty

No legacy is so rich as honesty. If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember what you said. When you are clear and open with everyone, it demonstrates trust and creates an environment of transparency. Honesty is a professional behavior because healthy workplaces require honesty to function effectively. Honesty means not lying, obviously, but also means telling the whole truth, and even further, volunteering important information without being asked. We need trust and communication to work towards a common purpose. Communication is critical because people need to know what their team mates are doing, without communication we cannot coordinate. And trust is critical because to focus on our own work we need to trust that our teammates will do the part of their job.

Honesty is one of the most fundamental values in any relationship, whether it’s personal, professional, or social. It strengthens bonds between individual. Being truthful also   leads to long term success and happiness. Honest people are regarded as reliable and sincere. Honesty ensures satisfaction and peace of mind.

We all know the story “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”, which is the story of a little shepherd boy who plays a prank to cry wolf and watch people come to save him. Unfortunately when the wolf appears on the scene, no one trusts the boy as he shouts and the wolf devours his sheep. The moral of the story is that lying leads us to trouble, and once you speak lie, no one believes you, even when you speak the truth. Honesty always wins over the dishonesty.
